Why a Building Exchange?

Building to Zero Exchange (BTZx) is enabling conditions for net-zero buildings by increasing capacity and facilitating collaboration. Together, we are accelerating action to retrofit and construct net-zero buildings at scale.

As a convener for the building sector, we collaborate and connect with everyone through research, events, resource development, skills training, and communications.

An exchange means working in partnership with industry, government, the private sector, academia, Indigenous communities, and other non-government organizations on net-zero buildings solution.

Workforce Readiness Roadmap

Our workforce will play a fundamental role in achieving the 2030 target and beyond. To address this, BTZx is creating a Workforce Readiness Roadmap. The roadmap will be a plan defining the net-zero building sector, workforce gaps, and recommended actions specific to Atlantic Canada.

Climate Literacy for Building Industry

Building to Zero Exchange (BTZx) is supporting and teaching the Climate Literacy for Building Industry Microcredential offered through Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) to empower the building sector with the critical skills and knowledge needed for sustainable construction practices. By fostering partnerships, enhancing and teaching curriculum relevance, and engaging stakeholders within the current building industry, we are enabling the transition to a net-zero economy. Together, we aim to build workforce capacity through knowledge, strengthen community resilience, and position Nova Scotia as a leader in green innovation and climate-resilient infrastructure.
